A Man Called Otto is a 2022 American film directed by Marc Forster.  The plot is based on a 63-year-old widower - Otto Anderson (Tom Hanks) who is living with his past traumatic memories and isolating himself from others. He is suffering from chronic depression and contemplating suicide. Furthermore, his physical health is affected by hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.  Otto Anderson has lost the meaning of his life and is affected by foreshortened future. He has lost the will to live. However, his life was dramatically changed by an immigrant family and a transgender teen, Malcolm.  Despite his cynicism, grumpiness, and short temper the neighbors show empathy to understand his deplorable condition.  Eventually, he finds a fruitful meaning in his life and decided to connect with his neighbors and lives his life.  This movie is about human connections and racial relations.
