Shadows on the Altar

The gates of hell were thrown wide open wide,
On a morning meant for grace and light,
When fanatics wore their cloaks of pride,
And turned the sacred day to night.
The thunder spoke in fire and smoke,
A split second where the world stood still,
As innocent threads of life were broke,
By a cold, unyielding, blinded will.
The walls bore stains of sacred red,
Midst shattered glass and hollow cries,
A vestibule where angels bled,
Beneath the weight of darkened skies.
A mother weeps for a child now gone,
An orphan stands in the quiet dust,
Whole families vanished before the dawn,
In the brutal fracture of our trust.
The broken bodies bear the scars,
The living carry the silent scream,
Walking beneath indifferent stars,
Trapped inside a waking dream.
Bismillah, who could cause this pain?
Bismillah, what was there to gain?
Bismillah, let me go and find
A piece of truth for human kind.
